What was the understanding of the concept dwelled in the word "God" ? We know God can't be represent by a form, so the word God have to be an abstract attribute, and not a substantive.

Etymology :

God (n.) Look up god at Dictionary.com
Old English god "supreme being, deity; the Christian God; image of a god; godlike person," from Proto-Germanic *guthan (cf. Old Saxon, Old Frisian, Dutch god, Old High German got, German Gott, Old Norse guð, Gothic guþ), from PIE *ghut- "that which is invoked" (cf. Old Church Slavonic zovo "to call," Sanskrit huta- "invoked," an epithet of Indra), from root *gheu(e)- "to call, invoke."

But some trace it to PIE *ghu-to- "poured," from root *gheu- "to pour, pour a libation" (source of Greek khein "to pour," also in the phrase khute gaia "poured earth," referring to a burial mound; see found (v.2)). "Given the Greek facts, the Germanic form may have referred in the first instance to the spirit immanent in a burial mound" [Watkins]. Cf. also Zeus.

There is various possibilities for an origin. Here, we expose other possibilities, semit ones :

First, there is mention of HUTA in sanskrit for "invoked", and this could be linked to هات (HATA) which means "bring me" ; obvious semantical link.

If we take back the strong consonnant of GUT we have G which could be Q or J, and a final T which could be D. There are closed pairs phonems.

Gut could derive from جَوَّدَ (JooD) with its meaning of free giving, munificence linked with "invocation".

Gut could derive from قَوَّدَ (QooD) with its meaning of strength.

Gut could derive from قُوت (QooT) with its meaning of nourishment.

The big problem to make this kind of researches, it's the alteration of the phonem. All the examples found in this topic use the semantical way, thin proof to make the connection between languages. We can't trust enought the sound of the letter which evolve constently.
