Plants are the first link in the food chain. Talking about the plants, here (below) is very well explained the process of photosynthesis. We all know how important the sun light is for us. How would the life look like without it ? Of course, it wouldn't exist. In a way or another we all use the sun light (if the plants and other photosintetic organisms use it directly, we, the human beings and all the other beings, profit from it indirectly ), that's why the sun it's called the "source of life".

"Photosynthesis ( /foʊtoʊˈsɪnθəsɪs/; from the Greek φώτο- [photo-], "light," and σύνθεσις [synthesis], "putting together", "composition") is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert the light energy captured from the sun into chemical energy that can be used to fuel the organism's activities.
